CH ERA's Pfabulus Formal Affair

CH ERA's Pfabulus Formal Affair (aka Eve)

DOB 11-21-2001
CERF - HV-2306
CHIC - 16955

Eve was the second Havanese at our house.  Eve is out of CH Salemi Charley and CH Silverdale's Double Fantasy.  Eve is fully health tested and has received her CHIC number.

Eve was a very naughty puppy when we first started showing.  We even had a few of our friends nickname her D-Evie (Devil & Eve).  There were times that she was so bad, that friends of mine would videotape the Havanese showing and would email it to me so I could relive it over and over again.

It is only fitting that Eve finished on Friday, the 13th, of June, 2003!

Eve took some time off to just be a house dog, before coming back as a Junior Show dog.  At first, MiKayla showed her in Juniors.  They did well the few times that they showed together.  It took a bit for MiKayla to understand Junior Showmanship and for Eve to relearn how to be a show dog.  At the age of 8, Eve is a much better show dog now, than she was in her earlier days.

Eve is now the Junior Show dog for Kirsten.  Eve & Kirsten won 5 Open Junior classes in 2008.  They won 3 Novice Junior classes and 1 Open Junior classes in 2007.  On Easter Day, March 2008, at the Dubuque Kennel Club dog show in Dubuque, Iowa, Eve & Kirsten took Best Junior in show!  Considering that all Eve wanted to do was to leave the show ring to go back to sleep in her kennel, it was an amazing accomplishment.

Eve flew to the 2003 HCA National specialty in Orlando, Florida, in her Sherpa bag.  Eve has also attended the 2004 HCA National specialty where she was shown in Brood Bitch and Best of Breed (and 2 of her kids showed in Brace).  MiKayla showed Eve in Juniors at the 2005 HCA National Specialty (Chicago), the 2006 HCA National Specialty (Richmond), and the 2007 HCA National Specialty (Denver).  Kirsten & Eve had their chance to show in Juniors at the 2008 HCA National Specialty (Richmond).

Eve has had 3 litters of puppies.  The first litter was with CH Bydand Apple Jacks at ERA's.  There was 5 puppies in that litter of which 3 went to show homes.  Only 1 finished, CH Pfabulus Bit O'The Bubbly (aka Tipper).  The other 2 were too small to be competitive in the breed ring.

We had an unfortunate experience with the 2nd litter, that was born in January 2004.  Due to complications, we had to have an emergency c-section and we lost all 7 puppies at birth and almost lost Eve as she struggled to come out of the anesthesia.

The 3rd litter is out of Eve and CH Silverdale's Pfabulus Wizard (aka Magic).  These puppies were born on June 27th, 2008.  Unfortunately, the pick puppy had his bite go bad so the entire litter was placed as pets.  Everytime you do a breeding, you can either have good, you can have "WOW", or you can have average.  I'd much rather have WOW and go in the show ring and be competitive than to have average or good.

I may do one last breeding of Eve this May breeding like type to like type, instead of getting so into the pedigrees.  This litter will only happen if, and only if, I get enough puppy buyers to commit before I breed the litter.  It is unfortunate, but after taking 17 months to place the last litter, and realizing that your house is only big enough for "x" number of dogs, hopefully everyone can understand.

Please contact me if you are interested in finding out more with my plans for Eve for her possible breeding.  If the timing of the past year holds true, she would be bred the 1st week of June with puppies due the second week of August, ready to go to new homes the middle of October.  I would love for her to come in season earlier, but you just never know what mother nature has planned.  So, I try to plan for what I know and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
