Our Dogs
Over the years, we have had the opportunity to experience many different aspects of purebred dogs.
It first started with us acquiring our first puppy, a 6 week old Peke-A-Poo puppy. Now, this is sad, we were the puppy's 3rd home at the age of 6 weeks. We took him to puppy obedience classes and attended our first dog show to watch obedience. This is where I first saw the Bichons and decided that I really wanted to find out more about them. They looked like fuzzy toy sheep (i.e. I showed sheep during my youth in 4-H and FFA at our county fair, other local fairs, and the state fair). Rusty was 14 years old when we had to put him down. He had cancer of the mouth. But, I learned quite a bit from my very first house dog.
We purchased our first Bichon in June 1990. Over the years, we have bred 7 litters over 18 years, resulting in 6 champions (plus 2 purchased dogs who became champions). We also showed 2 dogs to their CD titles in Obedience and tried out a short stint in NADA Agility (prior to AKC recognizing Agility) with one of our Bichons.
Bedlington Terrier:
Our only Bedlington came to us from the now defunct kennel of Willowind. Gracie came to us in 1996. Due to issues with co-ownership, we were forced to spay and place Gracie in a new home, out in California, in November 1997. We will never forget her. She was one of the few Bedlingtons that did not suffer from the Copper Toxicosis issue that so many Bedlingtons had at the time.
Our first Havanese came to live at our house in December 2000. We currently have 3 Havanese at our house plus a litter of Havanese PUPPIES! Please check out our Puppy Page for more information.
